Costume of the main actor: Xavier Sterling
Black blazer: We have chosen the blazer as we wish for the character to be classy, as blazers connote Class and intelligence and denote expensive cloves which portrays the characters wealth, we have chosen for the colour to be black as black connotes a serious nature and death, which almost foreshadows the future of the piece. Lastly black is also a realistic colour for a business man to wear, unlike red or yellow; this realistic attitude is a signifier to one of our two combining genres "drama".
White shirt (2 top buttons undone): the shirt is used to connote the main characters posh "swagger" as t is part of a whole suit which is usually viewed by are society as part of an elite group.
Cufflinks: Cufflinks where decided upon as we are using them in a close up shot, the cufflinks are needed as they are considered superior to buttons and therefore connote his wealth and status. Also we need cufflinks as we need to have him stepping out the car with his sleeves firstly undone hence connoting he is struggling to portray his sophisticated persona, which would later make sense once discovering he is a drug dealer.
Black trousers: used simply to help finish the suit, used for the same reasons as the blazer.
Brown belt: The Brown belt is used to connote Xavier's dirty lifestyle as brown signifies mud and filth, the belt itself is used to build a whole suit, being one of the accessory's that shows the characters complete class.
Black Dirtied/muddy shoes: We wanted the shoes to be dirty in suppose to clean and polished to juxtapose the majority of his costume, also connote that something has previously happened.
Now I will discuss the props that must be involved
Cigar: Me and my group have considered the use of a Cigar in are piece that the main character lights as he steps out the of the car. We have chosen a Cigar as it connotes his higher wealth and class, however also connotes that he doesn't care about health. Also we want to focus on the burning of the cigar as it foreshadows the climactic end of the film where Xavier Sterling just escapes the burning hotel.
Matches: We wanted to use matches in suppose to lighter's as it connotes Xavier's style: connoting a sophisticated, smooth man. Also as stated previously we needed the fire to burn the cigar that would foreshadow the ending.
