Analysis of Questionnaire Results

What is your favourite film genre?

These results show that the 3 most popular film genres are Horror, Comedy and Crime. This is good, and will help us because we know that there is a higher demand for this film genre than that of Sci-fi, Thriller/Action or any other genres not specified (stratified by 25 people).

Will you view a film purely for the actors featured?
These results show that 16 out of the 25 audience members will go to view a new film dependent on the main actors featured. This suggest that these people will not view smaller independent films with smaller known actors. This is helpful, as our film will be a mainstream film, with largely known actors throughout the media, and the film industry.

Do you find that mainstream films are easier and more entertaining to watch?
These results suggest that just over half of the audience members asked thought that mainstream films are easier to watch for whatever reason. This helps us because - as previously stated - our film is mainstream. This hopefully means that our film will be easier to watch by these audiences.

In your opinion, if the film has poor acting, or the incorrect actor is cast for the role, does this hinder the film's success?
From this, we can determine the fact that 17 of the 25 asked believe that a good and well cast actor is necessary, otherwise the film's chances of succeeding on the market are minimal. This encourages us to make sure we cast the correct actor for the role.

Do you prefer to view a film in the cinema, or on DVD/Blu Ray?

These results show that 13 out of the 25 people asked would rather view the film in the comfort of their own home rather than in the cinema. This statistic is helpful as it will allow us to determine our product technique. We will release the film on DVD after it has been shown in the cinema, and several months later, release it on Blu Ray and HD DVD, which will in turn generate more profit.

If a film is not advertised properly or effectively, do you think this hinders its chances of success?
From these results, we can determine the fact that the majority of audiences rely on advertising and other marketing techniques to be made of aware of the film, rather than word of mouth. This is helpful, as it will allow us to think of an elaborate marketing scheme, that will promote the film successfully to the audiences.
